Santane carried out a detailed Building Risk Assessment study for an Ethylene Cracker project. The purpose of the study was:
– To estimate the risk of hazardous impacts on plant buildings provided in the plant caused from fire, explosion and toxic gas release events.
– To determine the fire and blast design conditions of the plant buildings provided in the Cracker, based on the risk analysis.

The explosion modeling for the BRA was carried out using BST 3D Obstructed Region tool (SAFETI v8.0) and ignition volumes defined with the BST obstruction sets.

The assessment of the vulnerability of plant buildings to explosions was carried out by preparing Over pressure and Impedance Exceedance Curves. The assessment of the vulnerability of plant buildings to fires was carried out by preparing Radiation Exceedance Curves.
